Tourism in Bolivia is heavily concentrated in the far west, as backpackers come from beautiful Lake Titicaca on the border with Peru, through La Paz, surrounded by mountains and featuring the 'death road' to Coroico and south to Uyuni which has the largest salt flats in the world.

The Altiplano continues to the south, past volcanoes and spectacular lakes full of flamingos across the border to the hugely popular San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. There are many other less visited sites. Not everything runs on time, and occasional demonstrations can block roads.
