Vanuatu

Vanuatu is an archipelago in the Pacific. It gained independence in 1980 during the brief, farcical 'Coconut War'. The capital, Port Vila, is served by flights from several countries. The islands are prone to earthquakes and feature several active volcanoes. Tourism is being heavily promoted and arrivals are increasing each year.

It is famous for its scuba diving. Divers travel to Luganville to explore the famous wreck of the SS President Coolidge, which is reputed to be one of the best dive sites in the world. Crime is low. Several cargo cults are believed to still exist on the more remote islands.
