Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and occupies the south of the island of Saint Martin, with the French overseas collectivity of Saint Martin occupying the north of the island. It is a popular stop for cruise ships, and has one of the most famous airports in the world. The runway of Princess Juliana begins behind a chainlink fence across the road from Maho Beach.

There are many photos of planes flying preposterously low over the busy beach as they come in to land. The capital, Philipsburg, is noted for excellent shopping, which is duty-free.
