Saint Barthelemy

Saint Barthelemy is a small French island in the Caribbean which is famous for being a playground of the rich and famous. Exclusivity is maintained by a runway which can only accommodate very small planes and a harbour which is too small for cruise ships. With the difficulty of reaching the island, there are no resorts, only small hotels in a number of villages throughout.

French and English are widely spoken on the tiny, hilly island, and crime is virtually non-existent. Roads are steep and narrow. There are no standout attractions to speak of apart from the island itself but there are plenty of small, quiet beaches.

Why you should go:

You are rich. Or famous. And want to meet people like you.

Why you shouldn't:

You are anti-elitist.
