Along with the US Virgin Islands, which are only a short ferry ride away, they make up the Virgin Islands archipelago. They are a popular destination for cruise ships, which dock at the capital, Road Town, on the island of Tortuga.

It has many white sandy beaches and pretty villages. It is a popular sailing destination with generally favourable conditions. If you tire of the sea, there is a small rainforest to explore in Sage Mountain National Park. Tourism is hugely important to the economy.
