Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda is a hugely popular tourist destination in the Caribbean. The island of Antigua boasts numerous resorts and fantastic beaches and nightlife. Barbuda is far quieter and is little-visited, but is worth the effort if you are looking for peace and quiet. English Harbour and neighbouring Falmouth Harbour are renowned yachting destinations.

The former has a fascinating restored colonial British Naval station. The island has a rich maritime history. Christopher Columbus spotted it on his second voyage. Tens of thousands of slaves were brought to the island. Cricket is hugely popular. Many cruise ships dock at the capital, St John's.
