Scotland has extensive wilderness areas and fantastic hiking. Edinburgh is the seat of government and is a compact city near the sea and close to the mountains and the spectacular hill named 'Arthur's Seat'. The famous Fringe comedy festival is held there every summer.

Pretty much everybody who visits Edinburgh loves it there, and Glasgow has been regenerated in recent years too, while Aberdeen is the oil and gas capital of Europe, and is often referred to as 'the Granite City'. The Isle of Skye on the west coast attracts climbers and hikers to its spectacular and rugged mountains.
