The home of liberal attitudes, the Netherlands is a hugely popular tourist destination. The beautiful capital, Amsterdam, has something to offer everyone, from museums to parks to coffee shops selling marijuana and the world's most famous red light district. The nearby countryside offers fields of tulips, best seen in spring, and further south in Kinderdijk near Rotterdam, pretty windmills.

The north has some of the finest engineering to be found in the huge dykes which are best seen by bicycle. It has excellent transport connections to neighbouring countries, and is often visited on trips covering several of its neighbours too.
