Andorra is a tiny landlocked Pyreneen nation sandwiched between France and Spain. It is a big tourist draw, particularly in the winter ski season, with several different resorts divided between two large ski areas. The Caldea spa in the capital, Andorra la Vella, is popular with visitors. Hiking in the mountains in the summer is an option too.

Shoppers flood over the borders looking for duty-free bargains in the capital. The official language is Catalan but Spanish and French are widely spoken, and also English in the resorts. The country only became a UN member in 1993 when it became a parliamentary democracy.
