Sri Lanka

Tourists have long appreciated Sri Lanka's remarkable natural beauty, but since the 26-year civil war with the Tamil Tigers in the north ended in 2009, tourism has greatly increased and the economy has grown rapidly. One of the most popular activities is to take the scenic train trip into the highlands to the towns of Kandy and Badulla.

The historic city of Galle lies on the south coast, along with many towns with good tourist infrastructure and great beaches. So is Yala National Park, where you can see Sri Lankan elephants.
