One of three countries on the island of Borneo, Brunei is an oil-rich sultanate and one of the most developed economies in the region. Healthcare is free and car ownership rates among the highest in the world. As a result, public transport provision is poor and taxis are difficult to get and are usually only at a few set locations.

The capital, Bandar Seri Bagwan, doesn't attract many visitors but the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is well worth a look. You will be given a robe if you choose to enter it. There is a water village nearby that is also popular.
