A land of extremes, from Mount Kilimanjaro to the depths of the Great Rift Valley, from the Ngorongoro Crater to the bustle of Dar Es Salaam to the beaches of Zanzibar, Tanzania has something for everyone. Safaris are hugely popular, and no more so than in the world-famous Serengeti. Serengeti means 'endless plains' and nearly one million wildebeest cross it twice a year.

Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and the world's highest freestanding mountain and takes 7 to 8 days to climb. Clmbing fees can be expensive. Zanzibar was the site of the world's shortest war in 1896, when its sultan surrendered after 38 minutes.
